Surface modification of CoCrFeNi high entropy alloy by low-temperature gaseous carburization

چکیده

Low-temperature (470 °C) gaseous carburization is successfully employed in surface hardening of a CoCrFeNi high entropy alloy. After low-temperature carburization, carburized case expanded face-centered cubic (FCC) structure, i.e., carbide-free supersaturated interstitial solid solution carbon (maximum ~3.0 wt%) FCC, forms the region Due to strengthening by interstitially dissolved atoms and strain caused plastic accommodation lattice expansion, hardness alloy significantly enhanced. The reaches 1221 HV0.1N, which about 5 times substrate.
